Rabassa

Biography

Born in (1992) Barquisimeto-Venezuela, currently based in Barcelona, Spain.

Formal Education: In 2011, Rabassa attended The Fashion Institute of Technology (Fine Arts) in New York City. During her years in New York she was also enrolled in both abstract and figurative focus on oil painting at The School of Visual Arts. Concurrent with these studies she attended life drawing classes at The Art Student League and intensive Life Drawing courses at The Jeffrey K. Fisher Drawing Studio, Long Island.

Oil painting is the core part of her work; in which she moves from abstraction to more visible forms to express personal views on our contemporary world. Depicting sometimes emotional states or any particular obsession.

Present: Rabassa continuous exploring the medium of painting in diverse projects and dimensions: developing 360 degrees pictorial installations, using marginal materials in combination with spray and plastic-industrial paint. Transforming abandoned places-rooms into monochrome base experiences. Altering our perception of the space through out the use of colours.

“Creo en la intención de nuestros actos y el significado, ya sea artístico o cualquier acto de nuestra vida diaria. Me fascina el fondo de lo imaginario. Estar en los límites de la pintura. Y encontrarme con representaciones visuales que detonan lo que no se puede describir”.

"Through art we can constantly create new languages that redefine, question, and allow us to freely express our human nature".
